…but god… Episode 189
Transcript
“For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they do not make you useless nor unproductive in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For the one who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins.”
2 Peter 1:8-9 NASB2020
What qualities is Peter speaking about? The ones we get when we follow Jesus; “diligence, faith, moral excellence, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness,, brotherly kindness, and love.” (verses 5-7). If we have these attributes through the power of the Holy Spirit, why do we doubt God? Why do we still continue to sin? Why do we still miss opportunities to share the gospel? It is because we are complacent when it comes to following Christ and we become too self reliant, which leads to doubt and discouragement. However, we have an opportunity to make it right. We can choose to rely on God through the Power of the Holy Spirit and thus be better soldiers and followers of Christ!
“You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful people who will be able to teach others also. Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.”
2 Timothy 2:1-3 NASB2020
Seeking God through reading the word, prayer, praise, worship and fellowship will give us the strength we need when we need it to do God’s pleasing and perfect will.
“I solemnly exhort you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and exhort, with great patience and instruction.”
2 Timothy 4:1-2 NASB2020
We all are here on earth for a purpose and that purpose is to glorify the name of Jesus. Proclaiming the gospel. Which Jesus so eloquently put in in John 3:16-17
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him.”
John 3:16-17 NASB2020
Lord we thank and praise your Holy and perfect name! Help us to be better followers to rise up through the power of your Holiness to speak the gospel truth, through our actions and our words. So that others may see, know and follow you as well. We pray this in Jesus Name Amen…
