…but god… Episode 201
Transcript
“But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly people. But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.”
2 Peter 3:7-9 NASB2020
Peter is using Psalm 84:10 as the foundation for what he is saying “For a day in Your courtyards is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God Than live in the tents of wickedness. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; He withholds no good thing from those who walk with integrity.”
Psalms 84:10-11 NASB2020
What Peter and the writer of the Psalm is saying is God is always on time. That His time may not be our time and most times it is not. We are impatient especially now in this day with instant access to everything. God plays the long game. He will wait and we have to be patient! Remember it is not about us it is about others and their conversion. We already have the promise of eternity with Him. We already know that One day with Him is like a thousand years elsewhere. Or as the last stanza of Amazing Grace explains. “When we have been there 10 thousand years we have no less days to sing Gods praise than when we first begun.”Therefore, let us be patient and remember it’s not about us! It’s about those who do not know the Lord and are not following Him. God calls us to pray for and share with our our friends and our loved ones The Good News. How long do we pray? As long as it takes, and we must train the next generations to pray also. Pray that they would see and know The Good News! Being patient is not our strong suit. It’s funny we don’t even want to pray for patience for fear of God testing us. Well I rebuke that. Because we need to be patient for God and His perfect and pleasing will. We must trust God and know that He is not done and we have a lot of work to do! We work through prayer and supplication so that others may know the joy of a day in His court and singing praises to Him for 10 Thousand years and still having all eternity to sing His praise.
Lord, we praise you, love you, and trust you! Forgive us for being impatient, help us to trust in your perfect and pleasing will. Give us strength to share the Good News. Sharing with others what you have done, are doing and will continue to do in our lives, in the lives of our families and friends. We pray all this in Jesus Name Amen…
