…but god James 4: 1-4
Transcript
“What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is the source not your pleasures that wage war in your body’s parts? You lust and do not have, so you commit murder. And you are envious and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask with the wrong motives, so that you may spend what you request on your pleasures. You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.”
James 4:1-4 NASB2020
In chapter 4, James gives us some harsh words. These words are just as poignant in today’s world as they were 2000 years ago. The early church had gotten complacent, they were selfish and sinful. Sound familiar? The church today is just like this. Families are breaking apart, there is addiction. We are living in sin, we are no better than the world. Churches are disintegrating because of small disagreements, because we are offended too easily, because we are selfish and do not desire to serve.
James reminds us that, in order to reach the world, we must not be of the world, but we must love those who are in the world. We must remember what Jesus said in his sermon on the mount, “But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who are abusive to you.”
Luke 6:27-28 NASB2020
Prayer is the only way we can change the world. Prayer is the only way we can have revival. Prayer is the only way we change the hearts and minds of our friends and family who don’t know the love of Jesus.
Dear Lord, we thank you for your saving grace which has been given to us through Christ death on the cross and his resurrection and ascension. We humbly come before you and pray for revival. We ask that you help us to use the gifts of the Holy Spirit and your amazing armor to touch the hearts of those who are lost, hurting, destitute, and who are headed for destruction. Help us to be lights in the darkness and love to those who so desperately need it. We pray all these things in Jesus name. Amen.
Shalom, shalom, blessings! Press in and press on!
