…but god… Episode 3

Psalms 78: 1-8

Transcript

“Listen, O my people, to my instruction; Incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old, Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us. We will not conceal them from their children, But tell to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done. For He established a testimony in Jacob And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers That they should teach them to their children, That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born, That they may arise and tell them to their children, That they should put their confidence in God And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments, And not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that did not prepare its heart And whose spirit was not faithful to God.”

Psalms 78:1-8 NASB1995

Whenever someone says “listen to the words that I am saying”, what they are about to say is very important. Also, Asaph tells us to be active listeners. He not only says listen which is an action more than just hearing. But he also tells us to “incline our ears” meaning tilt your head up and pay attention.

No that Asaph has our attention he is going to tell us through story and parables about what we should be doing, what have not done, and how we can change the course of our wicked ways.

We know that we should be teaching our children and grandchildren about the love of God and thus affecting the gospel for multiple generations. However, we have been too passive and afraid to offend and have not spread the gospel and therefore we are paying the price. However the Good news is still the Good news and we can still tell it. Christ has died for us, He has risen to conquer death and because of that manifestation of God’s incredible and perfect love, we have eternal life in and through Him.

Don’t just read the words be active in your faith, Really Listen to the words that Asaph spoke 3000 years ago. Allow the words to wash over you and be filled with the Holy Spirit as you actively participate in the faith to change lives for eternity.

Lord, thank you for the wake up call. Thank you for these words right now. Give us strength and peace to actively work out out faith by sharing the Good News of what you have done for us. Thank you for allowing us to be part of The Greatest Story ever told. Give us strength through the power of your Holy Spirit to change generations. In Jesus Name, Amen…

Blessings and Press In and Press On!
