…but god… Episode 154

1 Peter 1: 20-21

Transcript

“For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.”

1 Peter 1:20-21 NASB2020

If our Faith and Hope is in God, if we truly believe, then why do we question Him? Job did not when he lost everything. This is what he did: “Then Job got up, tore his robe, and shaved his head; then he fell to the ground and worshiped. He said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked I shall return there. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.” Despite all this, Job did not sin, nor did he blame God.”

Why do we not completely put our trust in Him and rely on things that are not from Him? Isaiah explains; “Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help And rely on horses, And trust in chariots because they are many And in horsemen because they are very strong, But they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the Lord!”

Isaiah 31:1 NASB2020

Why do we hold something back from Him? Solomon explains in Proverbs; “So you will find favor and a good reputation In the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 3:4-6 NASB2020

Jesus explains in the sermon on the mount; “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Matthew 6:33-34 NASB2020
