…but god… Episode 160

1 Peter 2: 9-10

Transcript

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”

1 Peter 2:9-10 NASB2020

God has chosen us to proclaim His eternal and everlasting grace. We are now part of the New Covenant that God through Christ (the Cornerstone) has given us! We are called, we have been purchased as is says in the Book of Hebrews “By this will, we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all time. Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time onward until His enemies are made a footstool for His feet. For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying, “This is the covenant which I will make with them After those days, declares the Lord: I will put My laws upon their hearts, And write them on their mind,” He then says, “And their sins and their lawless deeds I will no longer remember.”

Hebrews 10:10-17 NASB2020

This could not be any more clear. We are also God’s chosen!  I love when God makes a point through two different writers. It is only through the power of the Holy Spirit that this can happen. Both Peter and Paul are explaining that we are all sanctified, both Jew and Gentile are part of The Royal Priesthood of God’s Kingdom. Which means we have access to all the inheritance that comes with being a member of Royalty. Our reward is in heaven. In verse 10 Peter is referencing Hosea “I will sow her for Myself in the land. I will also have compassion on her who had not obtained compassion, And I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they will say, ‘You are my God!’ ”

Hosea 2:23 NASB2020

Therefore, rejoice in the knowledge that we are His! Now and forever. This is God’s perfect peace, His Shalom Shalom. Rest in Him, put your trust in Him!

Lord we thank you for your perfect gift of salvation, we thank you that we know have a place in your Kingdom! We thank you for choosing us and giving us eternal forgiveness. We confess our sins to you and we forgive those who have sinned against us. Help us to seek you today, help us to rest in you today for we lay our burdens at the foot of the cross, knowing that you will take those burdens and make them light and easy. We pray all this in your most precious and perfect name Amen…

Shalom, Shalom blessings and Press in and Press On!
