…but god… Episode 169
Transcript
“Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you—not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to Him.”
1 Peter 3:21-22
These are fantastic verses that remind me of Easter. In Fact, the theological scholar, William Selwyn expresses that the reference to baptism in verse 21 as well as the several other references to Christ suffering, resurrection and second coming indicate that first Peter was written as an Easter epistle and the Wycliffe Bible backs this supposition as well.
Whether we are in Easter week or any other week of the year, let us truly be thankful and grateful that Christ paid our debts for all time. Not only did he endure the cross, but He was beaten, whipped, spat upon and insulted. He was laughed at and scorned, then He had to carry His own cross. Finally He was nailed to it for our transgressions not His. All this He endured for us! Following Christ gives us freedom through His resurrection and power of the Holy Spirit. However, there will be hardships and difficulties. If we give those hardships, difficulties and burdens to God, He’ll make those burdens easier. As He said “My yoke is easy and his burden is light.” Let us follow Him with a grateful and thankful heart. Let us be grateful and thankful to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for what He did for us, what He is doing for us and what He will continue to do for us.
Lord we praise your Holy and most precious Name. Help us to be grateful and thankful for your saving grace. Help us to follow you with a pure, seeking and honest heart. Give us the strength to always love and trust you! In Jesus Name Amen.
Shalom, Shalom Blessings. Press In and Press On!
