…but god… Episode 170

1 Peter 4: 1-2

Transcript

“Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human lusts, but for the will of God.”

1 Peter 4:1-2 NASB2020

The forgiveness of sins, The deliverance from affliction, The healing miracle of what Christ did for us. His willing servant sacrifice, it is the lifeblood of why we follow Christ. His perfect sacrifice and His resurrection gives us freedom from all desire and commitment of sin. Peter, immediately explains that he who has shared Christ’s cross, no-longer is alive to the power of sin, nor to the ordinary human desires, but is alive, only to the will of God.

Therefore we must die to our old selves. Pursue God with a new fervor. As Jesus explained, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Truly, truly I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.”

John 12:23-24 NASB2020

The only way to “bear fruit” is to give ourselves over to Christ and allow the power of His miraculous Holy Spirit to heal and deliver us from all our sin, now and forever.

Lord we praise and honor your Holy Name.  We thank you for what you endured for us. We give all our lives to you and trust in your perfect healing love!  Help us to live a life of love, help us be willing to die to self so that you may be glorified. We pray all this in Jesus Name Amen!
