…but god… Episode 171
Transcript
“For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of indecent behavior, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties, and wanton idolatries. In all this, they are surprised that you do not run with them in the same excesses of debauchery, and they slander you; but they will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. For the gospel has for this purpose been preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as people, they may live in the spirit according to the will of God.”
1 Peter 4:3-6 NASB2020
Some say eat, drink and party, for tomorrow we die. But that type of living is not really living. Peter says even though they ridicule us for living for Christ at some point they will realize, living to die, is worthless! Hopefully we as followers of Christ have loved them and not judged them and they see that their way of living is just living to die. Hopefully they see Christ’s love in us and they repent and receive the eternal forgiveness of God through the death and resurrection of Jesus, and they live for Christ.
As Jesus said to his disciples; “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you as well; if they followed My word, they will follow yours also. But all these things they will do to you on account of My name, because they do not know the One who sent Me.”
John 15:18-21 NASB2020
Therefore, the only way those who hate Christ can be saved is through the love of Christ, manifested in us, through the power of the Holy Spirit. It is with that love and power that we must follow Christ no matter the cost, just as Jesus did!
Lord we thank you for your perfect and pleasing will. Help us to always seek your will. Help us always in all things seek you first. Help us not to worry or be scared. Help us through the power of your Holy Spirit who lives in us to rely on your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding. We thank you for answering our prayers and filling us with your love. We praise your Holy Name for always and forever. Amen…
