…but god… Episode 176
Transcript
“For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And if it is with difficulty that the righteous is saved, what will become of the godless man and the sinner? Therefore, those also who suffer according to the will of God are to entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right.”
1 Peter 4:17-19 NASB2020
Peter implores us, as followers of Christ to do what is right! What is right? To share the good news. Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ will come again. It is also to fulfill the “great commission”: “And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20 NASB2020
It is our job as followers of Christ, no matter the cost to be His witnesses. “But He said to them, “It is not for you to know periods of time or appointed times which the Father has set by His own authority; but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and as far as the remotest part of the earth.”
Acts 1:7-8 NASB2020
Therefore, we must act above reproach without being judgmental. We must as it says in Micah; “He has told you, mortal one, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?”
Micah 6:8 NASB2020
Finally, we must do all this in love. For Jesus explained that all the commandments are based in the Love of God and the Love of others. “And He said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ Upon these two commandments hang the whole Law and the Prophets.”
Matthew 22:37-40 NASB2020
In order to be a follower of Christ; We must; be good by Loving God and loving others without judgement through the sharing of the good news! We are to do this no matter the cost! Because to live is Christ and to die is gain. We can do this because we have the power of The Holy Spirit! As the kids say “LET’S GO!”
