…but god… Episode 177
Transcript
“Therefore, I urge elders among you, as your fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and one who is also a fellow partaker of the glory that is to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not with greed but with eagerness; nor yet as domineering over those assigned to your care, but by proving to be examples to the flock.”
1 Peter 5:1-3 NASB2020
Yes Peter is calling out the elders in this passage but that does not mean we all can’t learn from these verses. Most of us are leaders in some way and therefore we need to lead like Christ with a servants heart. We must fervently and consistently seek the will of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through prayer. We need to go to God in prayer with everything we have. Because the enemy is coming at us with everything he’s got. He knows he has lost the war and therefore he has nothing to lose. Sometimes he is a sniper picking people off other times he comes at us with a full frontal assault. No matter how he comes we must be ready. God have given us the armor to fight.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having belted your waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having strapped on your feet the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
Ephesians 6:10-17 NASB2020
The instructions are clear, we must be servant leaders and pray for those in need so we can help them fight. So let us get on our knees and pray so that we can utilize the full armor of God and vanquish the evil ones schemes!
Lord we praise and honor your mighty and Holy Name! We thank you for all your incredible blessings. Lord we know that you have given us the all the tools we need to fight. Give us the strength we need to use the tools, help us to pray without ceasing and rest in your Holy Word! In Jesus Name Amen!
