…but god… Episode 148

1 Peter 1: 8-9

Transcript

“…and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”

1 Peter 1:8-9 NASB2020

Verse 8 begins in the middle of the sentence so let’s review verses 5-7. My mom, commenting on yesterday’s devotion summed up verses 5-7 she said “Peter is trying communicates 2 important truths about our Salvation gained by Christ's death & resurrection.

1. We have an eternal inheritance & it's not a worldly, material inheritance, it's eternal, stored in heaven for us. Peter makes the point that it's by far more precious than gold.

2. In this knowledge of our wonderful inheritance we rejoice-we should be people of joy & even more joy. Peter explains that our faith in God's free gift is again better than gold.”

Verses 8-9 gives us a third truth which is; we have believed and had faith in those truths without seeing them happen. We have faith that God has given us forgiveness of sins, and eternal life with Him through Christ. We have faith that we will live in eternity in the greatest Kingdom ever, with the most benevolent King, who wants a personal relationship with each one of His subjects. God is so good!

So Why do we question Him? Why do we doubt? Why do we wallow in self pity regarding our circumstances? All those problems, difficulties, doubts are but a mist in the vast array of eternity.

Recall Luke 12: 25-28…“And which of you by worrying can add a day to his life’s span? Therefore if you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about the other things? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither labor nor spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? You of little faith!”

We have the Holy Spirit! Who by the way is part of the Trinity! Therefore, we have God in us, rely, seek and listen to the Holy Spirit. For our days on earth are numbered and then “when we have been there 10,000 years will have no less days to sing God’s praise, than when we first began.”

Our Lord and our God who has taken away our sin! We will forever praise you and your countless and perfect gifts. Help us always to seek you first. Help us to seek to trust you alway. So that we can be witnesses for your amazing gospel story. We love you and praise you for eternity. We pray all this in your most precious and Holy Name! Amen…

Shalom, Shalom blessings. Press In and Press On!
