…but god… Episode 147
Transcript
“In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which perishes though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;”
1 Peter 1:6-7 NASB2020
Peter explains that we should be joyful, thankful honored even, in our faith, of Christ. Here is what the writer of Hebrews said about our faith in Christ in Hebrews 12: 1-3…“Therefore, since we also have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let’s rid ourselves of every obstacle and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking only at Jesus, the originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
Peter say’s basically the same. Why are we complaining! Our struggles are for only a moment compared to what Christ endured. He endured the cross so that our struggles would be minuscule as compared to the eternal joy we will have because of Christ’s enduring and eternal sacrifice.
Therefore, let us give our Lord and Savior “praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;”and what He has done, is doing and what He will continue to do for us!
Lord, there are not enough words to thank you for what you have done for us. Thank you for giving us eternal forgiveness. Help us to live a life that glorifies you no matter the circumstances. Help us to love like You! Help us to love You with every part of our being (heart, mind, body and soul) help us to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Help us to be servant leaders who are slow to speak and who are quick to listen. We pray all these things in Jesus name Amen!
